Wal-Mart is the size of Manhattan

Good Magazine has done an interesting comparison of major retail chains and the area they take up. The winner, not surprisingly, is Wal-Mart with 18,810 acres of space. For comparison, the island of Manhattan is only 15,000 acres. Other retailers listed are Subway, Gap, 7-11, McDonald’s, Starbucks, Wendy’s, Blockbuster, KFC, and Burger King.
